Mission and Vision
Her Safety Net is a community-based organization that was founded in 2021 to provide advocacy for women of all ages, including immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities. While our focus is to uplift and support women, we also focus on the health and well-being of all disadvantaged and marginalized communities.
We deliver programs that contribute to the personal and professional health and the economic development of women, meeting their needs at the right time in the right way. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving those living in the twin cities of Lewiston and Auburn, Maine.
Many of our clients are victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, other types of gender-based violence or human trafficking. We envision a future where all women are safe from violence — where silence is not an option. We educate and inform women, and connect them to support services which allow them to flourish in our community.
Her Safety Net is part of the AK Collaborative, a coalition of organizations in Maine that currently includes AK Health and Social Services, Fresh Start Maine, Salaam Mosque and LA (Lewiston-Auburn) Family Support Services.
