Her Safety Net is a caring and supportive place for women and girls
A central mission of HSN is protecting women of all ages and backgrounds from gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual violence and sexual trafficking.
Her Safety Net programs and services include …
Support Groups
We are caring, culturally diverse and dedicated to helping new residents adjust to new lives in the Lewiston-Auburn area.
We hold monthly support groups at our center to share our experiences and support one another. We also learn about our rights and the resources available in our community.
Help for Victims of Gender-based Violence
We provide advocacy services to women and young girls who are facing or are victims of domestic and sexual violence and provide support services to help them cope with challenges. We also advocate for women of all ages faced with discrimination in any form, anywhere, and we advocate for equal opportunities for women, including economic and educational opportunities.
Community Health Work
In Partnership with Maine CDC, we deploy our community health team to respond to the challenges and barriers community members face in accessing equitable healthcare services, thus reducing health care disparities and targeting social detriments to good health and improving healthcare outcomes.
Get Involved
We welcome monetary donations. Your gift goes directly to funding our work, including support and assistance for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, training for new immigrants on their rights, public health outreach, advocacy on social justice issues and more.
Volunteer
It takes a village. HSN is growing as our diverse community of recent immigrants, asylum seekers and members of the BIPOC community grows. Please click the button below so we can get in touch with you about our volunteer opportunities.
Her Safety Net is a member of the AK Collaborative, a coalition of organizations in Maine providing a range of community-based, health and well-being services.
